Meet our Festival Guest Artists

Our festival features San Diego-based QTBIPOC artists, wellness advocates, and healers who inspire the work we do here at Soultry Sisters Arts + Wellness Collective. They will lead arts and wellness workshops, performances, culinary features, and art installations centered around creative expression,
collective healing, and mindful movement.
This year we are asking each guest artist to create an offering or activation
in response to our festival theme, Radical Re-Imagining.

Saturday Workshops

Soulscape: Mindful Movement  • Soultry Sisters (Ajay & Toni Lynn Junious)  •  Saturday • 10:00am - 11:00am

"You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world.

And you have to do it all the time." – Angela Davis

Radical Re-imagining invites us to create new possibilities while honoring what has come before. It asks us to remember, reshape, and rebuild with care using creativity as a tool for connection, healing, and change. Re-imagining looks different for all of us. There is no single way to remember or re-imagine. Through art-making, crafting, storytelling, and shared rituals, we make space for collective memory and personal power. For this year’s festival, artists, creatives, and community members will explore imagination as a liberation practice. Together, we will re-imagine how we live, love, and create—discovering what becomes possible when we move beyond surviving in isolation and into thriving in a sustainable community.

SOULscape is a guided movement experience rooted in play, expression, and embodiment. Together, we’ll journey through movement and breathwork, using visualization and somatic practices to reconnect with our bodies and creative spirit. This is a soft space to come home to yourself, find freedom through self-expression, and explore what liberation feels like in your body.

In this session, we will radically re-imagine rest through a creative and communal lens, honoring rest not as retreat, but as a powerful practice of healing, connection, and collective liberation.

Art in Conversation • Guided tour at OMA  • 11:15am - 12:15pm

Join us for a guided tour of exhibitions at the Oceanside Museum of Art led by an OMA docent. Together, we will explore works that resonate with this year’s theme of Radical Re-imagining, engaging in conversation about how artists envision new possibilities, challenge existing narratives, and imagine more just and connected futures.

Featured during the tour will be works from Kate Tova’s exhibition on rest, which invites reflection on rest as a creative, restorative, and transformative practice. Through collective observation and dialogue, we will consider how art can inspire us to re-imagine the ways we live, care for ourselves, and build community.

Step n Stride: Art Walk • Soultry Sisters (Ajay & Toni Lynn Junious)

• 12:30 - 2:00pm

Join the founders of Soultry Sisters, Ajay and Toni Lynn Junious, for a community art walk through the heart of downtown Oceanside. Together, we’ll explore vibrant murals that reflect the culture, history, and creativity of O’side, visit the iconic Oceanside Pier and beach strand, and experience Artist Alley, where local artists will be sharing and vending their work.

Spend the afternoon connecting with the Soultry Fam community through one of the simplest and most accessible forms of mindful movement: walking. Exploring downtown Oceanside is one of Soultry Sisters’ favorite summertime traditions, and they are excited to bring this new experience to the annual festival.

As we walk, talk, and take in the beauty of the city, we’ll practice a radical act of re-imagining community, creating opportunities for meaningful connection, shared experiences, and collective joy. Together, we’ll discover what becomes possible when we slow down, move with intention, and engage with the people and places around us.

The walk will cover approximately 2.5 miles through the downtown and beach areas. Comfortable walking shoes, water, and sun protection are recommended.

Sunday Workshops

"Radical Re-Imagining" • Soultry Sisters (Ajay & Toni Lynn Junious)  •  Sunday • 10:30am - 11:30am

"You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world.

And you have to do it all the time." – Angela Davis

Inspired by this year’s theme of Radical Re-imagining, this interactive session explores how art, wellness, and community care can help us envision and build more just and connected futures.

Through storytelling and conversation, we will share how our work as artists, educators, and community leaders embodies the practice of radical re-imagining.

At a time when systems rooted in extraction, isolation, and domination continue to shape our lives, radical re-imagining calls us to envision something different. Together, we will explore how community can serve as a blueprint for building new ways of living—grounded in care, interdependence, shared responsibility, and collective liberation. By recognizing the unique role each of us plays within our community's ecosystem, we strengthen our capacity to create a world where people and communities can thrive beyond the constraints of fascism, capitalism, and other systems of oppression.

Together, we will re-imagine collective liberation as a diverse ecosystem of interconnected roles—each essential to creating the future we wish to build.

Reshaping from Within: A Somatic Sound Journey of Care and Renewal • Noriko Whitfield •  Sunday • 11:45-12:45pm

Choosing to rest and restore together is a radical act. This 60 minute somatic workshop invites us to embrace Radical Re-imagining by actively reshaping our internal landscapes.Using the frequencies of Alchemy Crystal Bowls, we will create a shared sanctuary at the Oceanside Public Library. The sound waves gently vibrate our cellular structures, helping to dissolve rigid patterns of stress, fatigue, and burnout. By releasing what no longer serves us, we open up the inner space needed to rebuild our lives with care and intention.

Through guided movement prompts, a multi-genre music, and embodied exploration, participants will be invited to remember, release, dream, and rehearse new ways of being.Rather than imagining liberation as something distant, we'll practice experiencing it in real time - through movement, creativity, connection, and aliveness. No dance experience necessary. All bodies and abilities are welcome.
